First Aid Course

On the 3rd and the 17th two Spitfire scouts and myself participated in a two part first aid course which was open to the North Rand District. We learned about stokes, heart attacks, shock, bleeding, burns and CPR. On the 3rd we did all theory and on the 17th we did practicals. On the 3rd I learned the easiest way of identifying snake, A for Adders which have cytotoxic venom, B for Boomslang which has haemotoxic venom and C for Cobras and Mambas which have neurotoxic venom. On the 17 we had to do CPR on a dummy and we also practiced how to dress a wound. We have to wait to do a test on this before we get the First Aid Interest Badge. The two scouter also participated.

Kim-Shield 2013

On the 9th and 10th of March a provincial scout competition took place it was near the Cradle of Mankind, Teak Place. Spitfire entered for the first time this year and we placed 22nd out of 60 patrols, we scored a total of 2970 points. I. as the PL (Patrol Leader), would like to thanks my patrol for participating with me, as this is my last Kim-Shield as a PL, next year they will all be a year older and would have gained more experience as a patrol. Spitfire will win the shield next year.
